Japanese-English translation and English proofreading is performed by
native English speakers, providing English text which appears natural
to non-Japanese speakers of English, and is easy to understand. Many
Japanese translators produce English which is grammatically correct but
follows the original Japanese too closely, resulting in English which
seems unnatural. In order for the reader to grasp the meaning you want
to convery it is necessary to produce a translation which is natural
and easily grasped. |
Why should proofreading be done by native speakers?

| If
English text is not checked by a native speaker, there is a good chance
the translation will seem strange. In addition, English is full of
expressions which, if not used correctly, can be interpreted by native
speakers to mean something quite peculiar. In order to be sure the
translation does not include any embarrassing expressions, checking by
a native speaker is essential. |
British or American English?
|
The
English taught in Japan is American English, but in many countries the
standard is British English. Most countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and
Oceania use British English. At Doctor English we can proofread both
American and British English. |

proofreader Kurt Scheibner PhD, is an American living in Sendai. He
worked as a high school teacher in the United States before coming to
Japan, where he has lived for over 30 years. He has published several
books, including 5 English Conversation textbooks. (Prism Series、Target
Listening、Ready-made English I and II 、Just Talk、English Pronunciation
Puzzles). He has also recieved a PhD in English Literature from Tohoku
University. |

basic rates, and may change according to the original Japanese text. We
